I recd. them, 5th Aug. 1878. "The Pintail ducks are peculiar birds with their nest. Nest on high land. They usually find a place where a Badger or some other animal has sunk a hole in the ground. 4 to 10 inches deep, & nest in it. Very few of them nest as far south as Iowa." Wm. C. Rice in Ep.
