John V. Bean Esqr Dear sir pleas accept our grateful acknowledgements for your favour of March 27th and permit me here to add that a communication from you will be thankfully received at any and all times - I am not surprised that Conneaut and other towns in your locality are not making great and marked improvements at the present time, for the plain and simple reason, that there is a general suspension of improvement of all kinds and in all localities on account of extremely hard times - I am gratified to learn that you are devoting so great a proportion of your time to Educational pursuits, time and money invested in that manner will prove a safe investment We have until recently entertained hopes that your folks would conclude to come to this Country, but have concluded that we were hoping against hope - Tell Jimmy that the gun is ready for him as sure as shooting and small game is plenty. Well I must quit writing for the present for want of room Yours respectfully A. H. Butler
