January, SUNDAY 10, 1864 Called [on duty 2?] o'clock in morning and marched to Coles Cavelry Camp in Lowdon on double-quick time. Coles Cavely surprised, 3 Killed 18 wounded and 4 taken prisoners. Rebel loss 6 killed 3 wounded and taken prisoners. MONDAY 11. Company drill in AM with side arms. Co K took 2 days rations and went to Loudoun to do picket duty. Weather pleasant. TUESDAY 12. Co K in Loudoun doing picket duty. Saw a a dead rebel the first time. Weather pleasant. Stood on picket.
