February, MONDAY 15, 1864 Went on fatigue chopping wood on Boliver Heights. Commensed snowing in PM. TUESDAY 16. On guard post at the gate. Occasionally a squall of snow in AM. Weather windy and very cold. WEDNESDAY 17. Came off guard. Weather very cold. Guard reduced to 3 posts weather so cold that the guard stood but 40 minutes to a time.
