April, SATURDAY 9, 1864. Commensed raining this AM, and rained all day, Water in the rivers pretty high. Commensed rain SUNDAY 10 Cleared off this morning. Otis Hunter of Co. E fell through the Shenandoah bridge Last night and was drown his body was not found. On guard at the Ordinance store house. Weather warm and Pleasant. MONDAY 11. Came off guard this morning. Regimental inspection this PM at 2 o'clock. Orders read to dispense with all unnecessary lugggage as we were to take the field. Very high water. The R.R. bridge over the Potomac carried away.
