April, WEDNESDAY 27, 1864 Came off picket this AM. Weather warm, and pleasant. Reviewed north of Martinsburg together with 5 other regiments and 3 or 4 Batteries and some Cavalry by Maj Gen Siegal. Weather cool and windy. THURSDAY 28, 1864 Co drill in AM fired blank cartridges. Received marching orders in PM to go at 5 o'clock tomorrow. Wore knapsacks on dress-parade. Inspection after dress-parade. Each man ordered to have 1 pair extra shoes 2 of socks 1 shirt 1 pair drawers 1 overcoat 1 shelter tent rubber & wollen blanket, 20 rounds of in knapsacks. FRIDAY 29, 1864 Got up this morning at 4 o'clock: and got breakfast. and got in readiness to march with 5 days rations. Most of the boys cut off their Overcoat capes. Left camp at 8 o'clock A.M. And marched to Bunker Hill. where we arrived at 5 o'clock. Troops under the command of Gen Stahl.
