May, WEDNESDAY 18, 1864 Ordered to get breakfast and get in readiness to march at 7 o'clock AM. At 7 o'clock we struck tents and marched to fisher's Hill. We were accompanied by the 12th Virginia and 2 [pieces?] of artillery. Arrived at fishers Hill at 12 o'clock M. A shower took place about 8 o'clock PM. THURSDAY 19. Slept with our equipments on last night and were woke up this morning at 3 o'clock this being the hour on which it was most probable the rebs would make the attack. Stood in line until daylight. when we stacked arms and broke ranks with the order to keep our equipments on and for 2 hours to remain close by our stacks. Packed up and marched back to Strawsburg and camped near the fortifycations. In PM a flag was raised at Strawsburg Gen Sigel was present and made a short speech in which he spoke very highly of the 34th. for there gallant conduct on the battlefield the 14th. FRIDAY 20. C K detailed for picket this morning. On picket about 1 mile north west of Strawsburg
