June, THURSDAY 2, 1864 Got up this morning at 4 o'clock and at 5 we were ordered into line and commensed our march; About 7 o'clock we halted near battle ground of 15th ult. About 12 o'clock our train was attacted in the rear when a halt was ordered and infty opened [round?] and let the Cavalry pass to the rear on double-quick time. Skirmishing most all the way from New Market which place we passed through about 8 o'clock. Arrived at our turning point of 19th. oct 1863. Our Cavalry pursued the enemy so sharply that they were obliged to leave most of our prisoners in Harrisonburg. (Vertically, at left:-) went into [ camp? in?] [?
