and then crossed over into Athens and took aview of the batle ground I only saw two dead secessionists although I dont suppose there was less than twenty killed and some thinks there was twice that many killed they took care not to have it known how many of them there was killed. several saw them hauling them off by the wagon load - there was only two union men killed at the time but there was several wounded and one them died this morning that is what report say you must not take everything for granted that I put in here for I do not know much more about apart of it than if I hadnt been there. they wouldnt let us go into the hospital to see the wounded nor into the prison to see the prisoners but what I seen I know to be so I know that I saw two dead secessionests one was in awagon they were taking him away to bury him the other was lying close to where he was shot. his companions had taken him afew steps and laid him
