Tipton Mo Feb 9th 1863 Dear Sister I dont know that I owe you aletter just yet but I have nothing to do today but to write. sunday is generaly absy day in the army policing the quarters and having inspections &c but I got rid of that to day by being on guard. I am on picket guard about amile from Camp and all we have to do is to halt Citizens going along the road and see if they have apass. we let every body go into town but they cant get out without having apass signed by. the provost Marshal and if the provost marshal is any way suspicious of their loyalty he makes them take the oath before
