day and we passed through the City right in the of the day there was no air stiring and the sun seemed to do its best. I saw more than one man fall from the effects of it. that pleased some of the citizens. I heard one nice looking young lady say that was standing in the door when one of our soldiers fell that there is another Lincolnite played out. some of the ladies and children were very impudent but there is some Union people here yet I think. I saw the stars and stripes waving over several private dwelling houses. I have not time to write much this morning so I hardly know how to begin or quit I am in a hurry because I have to wash my shirts our Camps wants fixing and policeing and our guns are not in very good order but I have afew moment to spare so I concluded to write a few lines if it was ever so few
