from George Makin it said that Henry had enlisted in Varners Com and was going to war. That took me more by surprise than anything I have heard for some time although I have been afraid he would go ever since that last call was made. I dont know what you will all do now I recon you will have to move down to fathers and father will have to sell off his stock and move up to his farm on the prairie I want you to write as soon as you can and tell me how you have arraigned things and whether Henry is in for nine months or three years. it seems from Johns letter that every body is going I guess one cant boast over the other about being a soldier for we are all going to be soldiers alike. I somtimes thought that I was in rather a big hury about going to war
