Memphis Tenn Oct 20th.. 62 Dear Brother I presume I assume the atitude best adapted to the writing of afew lines in answer to your letter of the 9th. Inst which I received some three or four days ago. you wanted an imediate answer but I didnt see fit to give you one. from the fact that I couldnt see any reason for your being uneasy about us as we were not at the Corinth battle but at Memphis all the time. there is only one Division here (Shermans) thats as few as ought to be left here when we dont know what day we may be sliped up on one Division left here and went to Corinth
