Memphis Tenn Sunday June 7th 1863 Dear Sister You said in your letter of May 17th that before marching you always wanted me to send you word so now I will tell you we are going to leave Tenn we are going down the river perhaps to Vicksburg. I shall not write but a few lines for I dont know how soon we may start thoug I hardly think we will move out today as our teams have not got in yet from Le Grange. We gave up our mules day before yesterday. got on the cars at La Grange yesterday. arrived at Memphis last night Got aboard of a boat this morning Called the Henry von Phul. Pretty much all the troops on the road from Jackson to Corinth and from Corinth to Memphis are moveing going down
