Memoranda Continued from page 4 Nov 6th "61" Six recruits from Albia joined Co "E" 1st Lieut Calvin Kelsey left our Co. and went to Co. [I"?] 8th Iowa as Capt of that Co. Nov. 9th. Gen McKinsky Superceded by Gen Sturgis We left Springfield took the back track marched 6 miles Nov. 10th. Marched about 16 miles. 11th. Marched 18 miles. Nov 12th. We marched 22 miles. 13th. Marched about 11 miles Crossed the Pomdeterre river. Camped near the Pomdeterre Mill. On the 14th we marched about 13 miles Crossing the Osage river at Warsaw. 16th our Brigade-Commanded by Col Strut of the 8th Iowa left the Warsaw and Syracuse road taking the Sedalia road Marched about 20 miles. Nov 16th. Marched 10 miles arrived at Sedalia Pettis County Mo Very tired and almost worn out. Sedalia is asmall place but large enough of its age. it is Situated at the end of the Pacific R R and in the edge of alarge prairie that reaches almost to Warsaw. The Country from Warsaw to the Pomdetere is very rough. hilly and rocky and overgrown with small scrubby timber of the jack oak species. From Pomdetere to Quincy there is considerable Prairie but its hilly and rocky. From Quincy almost to Springfield the prairies are large and tolerably smooth but mixed more at less with stone - generaly more. In and around Springfield the Country is very broken. While we were at Sedalia we were paid two months pay. On the 9th of Dec our Regt marched to
