We then turned south, towards the Tallehatchie at wyatt--arrived there about four oclock drove the rebel pickets stationed on the opposite side of the river. Captured two or three sides of bacon and an ambulance. No body hurt. We didnt cross the river but turned west marched about amile and camped 14 miles from our camp on the night previous. April 20th Revelle 4 oclock. A.M. Left camp about five. Marched west or south west about 22 miles. Captured two or three rebel soldiers or guerrillas during the day we also got alot of horses mules and some provisions (hams and shoulders) from rich planters along the road. Found shot guns old muskets and sabers at different places. Camped that night inside the field. Carried railes from the opposite side of the lane put them across the fence next to us to resist cavalry charges should such athing occur. We were supposed to be within five miles of the enemy
