and ate several times at the table: not had a bad time yet. My health good; St. Louis looks natural every where coming down on both sides the river we were cheered, Specially by the Ladies. Baskets of Apples have been thrown on board when we landed. I am sorry if we have to leave here so soon for I wanted to get a chance to go out to Marine & see Fred. Well wife I need not say I think of you & the children day by day & night by night. God only knows when or how we will meet, but remember my love will never grow cold for those at home. Kiss the baby 3 times 3 for me. How did you like my ugly phys? wasn't natural. Your letter that you wrote this week will reach us if we do go right off but how soon I can't say. Write once every week until you hear from me again directing your letters to me at St Louis care of the Capt. Co "H", 26 Reg. Iowa Vol. to follow Regmt. and some time we will get them. I must mail this now & if we do go will write soon as I can after we leave and mail it as soon as I can & if we dont will also write soon again. Love to Mary & Lizzie & Chauncy & Charles & everybody that loves me male or female. Well wife may God bless & keep you & I safe to meet again. Keep a good heart I think it will be so, heaps of love to you Good Bye A.R.B.
