Marine Hosp Jan 13 / 64 My Darling I have recd no letter for some days but cant wait any longer, as I know if you feel as I do when I get none, you would wish one written though none to answer. I have been wondering often how you were situated this cold weather as I know it must be there, and where you were, perhaps over at mothers. And how I have wished I could be at home to help you, and keep you warm & comfortable, hold you in my arms & tell you how I loved you. I cant tell on paper how much you are in my thoughts. How I love my own dear wife. How good & kind I think you. So Ill say something else. The Ice has been floating by here for several days. Only once within the past 20 years has it been so before. it is difficult for Boats to run at all, yet many do few & far between. Mails come, & I suppose, go slowly. There has been a blockade attempted at Greenville 160 miles above here, supposed to be part of Braggs old Army. it is said they have 3 pieces of artillery on each side the river of heavy calibre, and some smaller, and near 10000 man Two Brigades went from here on Saturday & Sunday
