can silence their bateries we marched back to the river one division got on the boats was ordered to keep quiet they was going up the river to take a fort with 6 gun boats but we did not go could not get the pilots to steer the boats there is lots of torpedoes in the river had one gun boat blown up and sunk by one of them there is a report that grant have taken price (Upside-down, at bottom of page:-) WEDNESDAY, December 26th, 1855.
