To prevent Infection Six Drachms of Powder'd Nitre, six drachms Oil of Vitriol - mix them in a Tea Cup, by adding to the Nitre One Drachm at a time of the Oil - The Cup to be heated during preparation on a hot Hearth, or plate of Iron, and the mixture to be stirred with a Tobacco Pipe, or a piece of glass - The Cup to be changed to different places in the apartment of the sick Mr Pendrills Rect. when a Barrel of Beer turn Sour To nine gallons of Beer, put in at the Bung a quart of Oatmeal, lay the Bung on loose for two or three Days, then stop it down close, and let it stand a Month, some put in a piece of Chalk as big as a Turkeys Egg after it is settled stop it close for a Month, then Tap it.
