To make Gingerbread buttons 3 pounds & half of flour, rub in one pound of Butter a quarter of a pound of sugar 2 ozs of [Corrarm?] do of ginger. Mix it with one pound of Treacle, work it very well and role it thin and cut it in Cakes with a glass - You may add a glass of wine or brandy - The Sugar should be put into the treacle and made hot- Dr. Cook says that only 15 grains of Powder of Julup mixed with 2 or 3 grains of ye powder of ipecacuanha will purge more than twice the quantity of Julup alone and not quite so much
