Good plain cake. T. Wells. 3/4 of a pound of flour, 4 oz of butter, do of sugar, 1/2 lb of currants, a little candied Peel, a little nutmeg & ginger, 1 spoonfull of German baking powder, mix the ingredients well together & beat it up with two eggs, & about 1/2 pint of milk. Bake for about an hour. Screw Biscuits. Mrs. Gladstone 1/2 lb butter 3/4 lb of flour, 6 oz white sugar 1 table spooonfull of cream, 2 eggs. Sponge cake. Take 6 eggs, leaving out 3 whites, 1/2 lb of loaf sugar
