Soda Cake Take 1 lb of flour; put into it a 1/2 lb of butter, add 1/2 a pound of moist sugar, 1/2 lb of currants, 2 eggs, one lemon, nutmeg, and 1/2 a pint of milk, in to which you are to put 60 grains of carbonate of soda. Gingerbread Nuts Take 2 lbs of flour and dry it before the fire; 1/2 lb of butter, 1/2 lb of moist sugar; carroway seeds, with a lb & 1/2 of treacle; add 1 oz & 1/2 powdered ginger.
