To Wash Blankets in cold soft water 1 bar of ivory soap 2 tablespoon of powdered borax melted in a galon soft water over a flame or on a stove put enough cold soft water in a tub for two single blankets. Pour solution in stir about then let stand 1/2 hour work with your hands gently (don't use board) then lightly wring into a rinse also cold then into another tub. fold put through a wringer and hang up to dry.
