Red Ants - A mark with chalk drawn around any article or vessel will afford effectual protection. These insects will not pass over the line. Cure for whooping Cough Equal portions of Linseed oil, Honey & new England rum mixed together give a tables spoonful every time the patient coughs. The following is recommended as a simple & effectual remedy for Diarhea 32 drops of Cinnamon 2 oz of laudnum 4 of compound spirits of lavender & 4 of rhubarb. A tea spoonfull to be taken at a time. Soup for an invalid - cut in small pieces one pound of beef or mutton or part of both: boil it gently in two quarts of water; take off the scum, & when reduced to a pint strain it. season with a little salt & take a teacupful at a time.
