For wash stand - (a knit mat Cast on thirty eight stiches - 1st round) knit two plain put the cotton over the needle (forward-) narrow -do - do put the cotton forward & knit three stiches - Then put the cotton forward & knit one stich (heel fashion) & narrow the next stich - then turn your mat and put your cotton forward of your needle and narrow - (this last is Brioche stich.) knit plain to the end of top. 2d round narrow two first stiches plain - then put the cotton forward as in first row and proceed as in the first part till you come to the brioche stich - then knit two brioche stiches instead of one and increase the number of brioche stiches every time one the right side till you come to the centre of the mat. For going back brioche the same (brioche) stiches then knit plain on to the top
