Baking Powder Biscuits 1 qt. flour 3 tablespoon B.P. 1 tesp. salt 1 tablespoon sugar 1 large spoon lard 1/2 pt. sweet milk Coffee Cake Disolve 1 cake F. yeast & 1 tablespoon sugar in 1 cup milk Scalded & cooled. Add 1 1/2 cups sifted flour to make sponge. Beat until smooth. Cover, set aside in warm place until light about 3/4 hour. Cream 1/4 cup butter & 1/2 cup sugar & add to sponge Then add 2 eggs well beaten, 1/4 tesp. salt, 2 cups flour or enough to make soft dough. Knead lightly, place in greased bowl, cover & set to rise about 2 hours, when light roll 1/2 thick brush with butter sprinkle with sugar & cinnamon, let rise about 1/2 hour & bake 20 min. Fried Cakes 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 1 " sour milk Dissolve 1 tesp soda in little of milk. Flour to make quite stiff & little nutmeg for flavor Handle as little [illegible]
