Cream pies tried & good. Beat a qt of thick sweet cream as light as you can. Mix a cup of white sugar, and a cup of flour with some extra good rich milk or cream. This will make four pies - bake as other pies. Mrs. A. M. H. Soft Gingerbread 1 N. O molassas, 5 pints of flour, 1 cup of lard, 2 tablespoonsful of ginger and 2 of soda, 1 pt of cold water. Put the soda in your dish and stir the molassas on it gradually, then the lard, spice, water and flour. Beat very light, bake in square pans and let them cool in the pans. Jessiy Sugar Cakes - good 1 lb of brown sugar, 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of sweet cream 1 teaspoon of Soda. Stir in flour until they are just as stiff as can be, and roll thin, Essence of lemon.
