Bread Sponge Cake One coffee cup of light sponge one cup of sugar one half cup of butter, one egg-- one cup of choped raisins or dried currants [rubed?] in flour a pinch of salt and a half teaspoonful of soda -- Beat the egg then the butter & sugar together mix all together but the sponge & fruit are added last & stired lightly with a little flour - spice to suit the taste-- Use of putty -- to mend tin pans-- put it on the outside, let it dry thoroughly. Hair can be colored black by taking one part bay-rum, three parts of olive oil and one part good brandy. Wash the hair every morning with this mixture and in a short time it will make the hair a beautiful black without injuring it in the least.
