32 Spice Cake (Marjorie's Very good) Makes 2 layers or 2 doz. drop cakes 1 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup butter & lard mixed 1 cup water 3 level cups Swan's Down Cake Flour 2 heaping teasp. Baking Powder 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teasp. nutmeg 1/4 teasp. cloves 1 teasp. lemon & vanilla mixed Mix all to-gether, then fold in whites of 4 eggs beaten stiffly. White Frosting 1 cup sugar - level 1/2 cup water 1 pinch cream tartar Boil until it threads - then pour this over white of one egg beaten stiff. Add vanilla
