Thursday June 13th 1878 Hatt kept on with her house cleaning this morning and I did the ironing. In the afternoon after we had the dinner work done up I dressed and went to town. I stopped at Wins a few moments and had only just got home when it began to rain. It was a gloomy evening and I went to bed early. Mr Bailey paid me $15.00. Friday June 14th 1878 It looked rather doubtful this morning but Cattrell went to town for the carraige for our trip to Mt. Vernon. We got started about nine oclock. We had a terrible time finding the road down to [Kotis?]. When we at last arrived there found a candid welcome and a good dinner awaiting us. At three oclock we all went into Mt Vernon found Louise at her friends who entertained us in a most hospitable manner. In the evening we attended the exercises at the Chapel and a lawn social. We all stayed in
