Monday October 27th 1878 We took an early start to drive into Washington it was very cold. I was nearly froze when we got there, found Stinsons folks all well and they treated us too well. We did not get started out till after supper. The drive was dark but we arrived safely at Hastys where we were warmly welcomed. Tuesday October 28th 1878 We had a pleasant day to come home started about nine oclock and went a mile south to see about engaging some apples. We got to Stinsons [illegible] before noon, stayed there till after dinner and got a couple of sacks flour to try. The road home was a pleasant one. But we were unfortunate before we got home. Down below Stevens one of the horses took sick and the people who lived there (Mr Bradleys) and Rob worked with him till after nine oclock when he was able to be led home. They took one of their teams and brought our buggy home.
