Aunty Holmes over with him to stay with Mother. When we got there met five young ladies from West Liberty and others from Downey. We had a splendid time and came home at five oclock. Lee came over to the train for us. I helped get the supper over and went to bed early I was so very tired. Ella & Mother went down with us and enjoyed themselves as well as we did. Weather rather pleasant. Mrs Rhodes called today, while we were away. Sunday February 16th 1879 Got a late start this morning and were behind hand all day. It snowed so I could not go to church. Helped with the meals and read and rested my spare time. Monday February 17th 1879. I helped some with the work then went down cellar and picked over apples. In the afternoon we peeled and spiced the specked ones. I did a little mending before supper and put up some knitting work. I knit all evening Weather rather cold. had a postal from Lizzie
