Thursday January 17- 1935 although the streets were bad I went with the Whetstones. Mrs. Ensign and Miss Campbell by taxi to Effie Stevens to a Red Luncheon. The evening here with Mrs. Gay a man here demonstrating vacuum cleaner. Letter from Mrs. Falk today. Wrote Winnie. Friday January 18 1935 Hattie came down early and was here all day. Ott here in the AM. In the afternoon I went by taxi to the courthouse to testify to what I knew about the Folsom Family. The trial is on for the murder of George by a negro. Christmas Eve 1933. Letter from Lois Simpson. Wrote her in evening. Saturday January 19- 1935 It was a very cold day. Mrs. Gay at the shop most of the time I finished a piece of crotchet work I have been busy with this week. Mrs. Welsh here to do work. Letter from Birdie. Sunday January 20- 1935 I went to church with the Andersons. A new minister Dr. Jones) preached. Mrs. Gay and I alone for dinner I read and rested Mr Gay got home late in afternoon. Very stormy and cold at night. I wrote to Mrs. Cooper in Piketon. Monday January 21st 1935 A very cold morning ten below zero. Mrs. Gay at the shop in AM but here later. I began another piece of crotchet work. Hattie in bed all day with a cold. The Folsom case still going on at the courthouse.
