Wednesday January 1st 1936 I had a letter from Mrs Lowe at DeLand and M E Culbertson. I wrote him. I read part of the day and in evening wrote LeGrand. Rob home for lunch. Did some telephoning. a quiet New Year's Day. Thursday January 2nd 1935 It had snowed all night and kept up most of the day. Rob went to Des Moines on early train. I read the papers & in a book, slept awhile. Listened to radio in evening. Friday January 3rd 1935 I wrote letters to Gertrude Mitchell & Mrs Falk in AM. Soon after lunch Hattie went down town by taxi. Letter from Laura. I read some and slept in PM. Alice & Cora busy cleaning. Saturday January 4th 1936 I finished reading a book and listened to radio. Slept late in PM after writing to Julia Mc-- and The Masons. Rob home from Des Moines in PM. Very cold again. Rob brought letters from the store from Mrs Culbertson, The Brown Girls, Winnie and Edith Culbertson. Sunday January 5th 1936 Hattie went to S S & Church. Rob had Mr [Mews?] his guest for dinner. I wrote Winnie & Mrs Kiser. Read and slept some. very cold. Listened to radio most of the evening. Mother's birthday. Monday January 6th 1936 Cora was down tone most of the day. I did not get up very early. I read the papers in AM. In the afternoon I folded hems in store towels. Listened to radio and read in evening, more snow.
