9 Monday January 17th 1876. I cleaned the house all up this forenoon and got ready to wash after dinner, I got the washing done by night and the porch scrubbed. It was as pleasant an afternoon as I ever saw this time of the year. I practiced a little and read some in the evening. Tuesday January 18th 1876 It was raining this morning. We brought the clothes in as wet as when we put them out last night, and worked all day drying them around the stove. I practiced some in the forenoon and in the afternoon, sewed a few carpet rags. I am nearly sick with a cold. I had a letter from Will Reed. Wednesday January 19th 1876 I did up the work and practiced this forenoon and ironed in the afternoon while Mother was gone to town. I am almost sick. I practiced a little while and doctored up a little and went to bed about nine oclock. Weather colder and the mud frozen up.
