11 Saturday January 22nd 1876. When we got up this morning it was raining rather a discouraging prospect for a small party tonight. It was late before we got the work done up but I got some cake baked before noon After we got the work done up Mother went to town in the buggy and got a whole lot of things. While she was gone Hatt and I cleaned the house all up and the table put out in the kitchen. We had supper a little earlier than usual tonight. I dressed while the folks eat and then I helped do up the work and set the table again. Our company came and what a jolly time we did have playing cards and dancing to piano music Our supper was real nice too when we came to get it on the table. They played till mid-night. It turned colder and stopped raining just before night. So the mud froze up in fine style and it wasent bad getting here at all. I was so glad it turned out as it did I thought this morning that it would be a failure and all our trouble to get Hatt home would amount to nothing.
