14 Thursday January 27th 1876. I got right at the ironing this morning and finished it all up by noon. I had a note from Mr Chase this morning asking me if he might accompany me to the party Friday Which I answered in the affirmative. Winnie was over a little while in the afternoon and when she went home I walked down to the steps with her I did some mending in the afternoon and evening. Friday January 28th 1876. This morning there was a prospect of rain so Mother did not go to the valley. The weather was changeable And just before night it began to blow very cold from the northwest. We did not get Hattie home nor Rob was not able to go out so I was the only one of the folks that went to the party, Mr Chase came for me about eight oclock. I had a real good time and all the dancing I wanted  Every body seemed to enjoy themselves  I did not come over home but went down and stayed all night at McCalls.
