56. Thursday May 18th 1876. It rained most of the day. Mother was at home and she did the work while Hatt and I sewed on the brussels carpet We got it done. It was a hard days work. Friday May 19th 1876. Mother went to the valley this morning and we girls washed made and with Robs help put down the brussels carpet today. We were tired enough again we got the work all done up at night. Saturday May 20th 1876 I got my baking done early today And in the afternoon I worked some mending socks I washed nearly two weeks ago. I went to town just before supper to do a little trading. Had a letter from Lou Reeves. Sunday May 21st 1876. Mother came home this morning telling us that Grand-pa died last night at six oclock I did nothing all day but help with the
