75 Monday July 3rd 1876. Lizzie and I went down town this morning I got my letters ready to take down. We were terribly warm and tired when we got home. I helped the girls sew a little in the afternoon and baked a sponge cake We were going riding with Charlie McCall in the evening. But it stormed terribly. We four girls sat around and talked. A letter from Hatt. Tuesday July 4th 1876 We got ready and went down town this noon to watch the procession It was magnificent I felt almost too worthless to go but after I saw it wouldent have missed it for any thing We met Charlie Mc down there and he took us up home. Lou and I took a walk in the afternoon. At night Charlie came to take us to the fire works. It looked like rain but we started. When we got to the grounds we met folks coming away. So we went down town for ice-cream. It rained so we got wet going home. It was a terrible storm. "Centennial fourth"
