100 was on the train and I had a pleasant talk with him. We took the folks completely by surprise. Uncle happened to be down town in the waggon and we took our trunk right out with us. Rob and I both slept awhile in the afternoon and in the evening played cards We did not sit up very late. Saturday September 9th 1876. I did not do much of any thing in the forenoon and in the afternoon we went down to Vene's Rob went on down town with Uncle to write some letters, and stopped there when he came back. We had such a good visit and such a jolly time at supper. Will Reed came in just as we were eating. In the evening we went on down town and to Etts. I saw quite a number of my friends in town. Esther and Florence were over to Etts and we had more fun than a little. I was tired enough to go to bed when we got home. Taking it all in all it has been a day pleasantly spent.
