214. Saturday July 21st 1877. Hatt spent the entire day at Winnies and she came over home with her in the evening. I worked in the beds nearly all day. I put the last coat of paint on the kitchen floor. I am glad tomorrow is a day for rest. Sunday July 22nd 1877. It was a warm day. Mother and Otto went to the valley to spend the day. I did most of the cooking myself. Hattie went to ride in the afternoon with Mr Whetstone. I never passed so lone-some a day in all my life I was so glad when it came time to go to bed. It seems strange not to see Pete coming over about sun down of a Sunday evening. The moon shone beautiful tonight. Wrote a letter to Cousin Gilead Smith. Monday July 23rd 1877. My birthday! I have passed happier ones. I took myself with my miserable spirits to the tool house this morning to sew feather beds. Miss Paine came here from Ill this morning. And went on to Uncle Jims. I went to town after supper. I had a paper from Pete today.
