Monday February 25th. 1929 There was a heavy snow this AM. The train to Chicago was late. I got my breakfast and work done before I finished packing. Did telephoning and went to the depot in a taxi. Winnie met me and I went out to her house by street car. Mrs Doyle & Emma called on phone. Tuesday February 26th 1929 I slept well. Did some telephoning and wrote Hattie. We left for Ill Central depot after early dinner. Emma and Mr Herriot came to say good by. I had a fine car to ride in. There was no snow and ice by the line we reached Champaign. Supper early and soon went to bed. Wednesday February 27th 1929 I rested well. We were at Birmingham Ala when I got up. There were showers during the day. Reached Jacksonville at 9.30. Went to The Flagler Hotel. Wrote a note to Hattie. The people were listening to report of prize fight at [Miawis?] Thursday February 28th 1929 I did not get up till nearly nine oclock. Had breakfast and wrote cards to Winnie & L D L. Went down to the depot to get lunch before I left for DeLand at one oclock. Such a pleasant ride. Every thing as beautiful to look at. Mrs Falk did not get over to meet me. I to The Hutchinson where she found me. Kennith Baker is here. We listened to The Radio in the evening. It seems very natural and pleasant to be here. Some rain in the evening. The grove is beautiful
