Wednesday January 1st 1930 For several years I have written a letter to Warner McCall on New Years day. But never again can I do it. I put up curtains & drapes before Ott came to take me over there. Marys Father there. But went on after dinner. Ott & I came over to the church to a reception for The Rhinds. After we went home listened to the radio report of a game at Pasadena. William brought me home. Thursday January 2nd 1930 I went up town for some things I needed. After I had washed the kitchen curtains. I did some other washing afternoon. and some sewing. The Gartners are in trouble. a nephew living in Chicago was killed by an Auto. he will be buried here tomorrow. Friday January 3rd 1930 I did some extra work about the house. Bro Ott here for dinner. I fixed pillows for the couch in the afternoon. weather colder with snow. Saturday January 4th 1930 I went up town and later to Hatties with The Anderson. Ott came with Rob. a delightful visit. I wrote to Birdie, Mrs Wilsons & Anna McCollister in evening. Ott went to Chicago. Sunday January 5th 1930 The Anderson took me to church. We miss Mr Rhind. I made a list of cards and did other writing. Letters to Paul Whetstone, LeGrand & Mrs Dinse. Went over to Harter [illg] to call. After supper Mrs Brunett and Mrs Hays here. I went over my checks for the year. early in afternoon. Mothers birthday. We had the [Weavers?] at the church.
