Monday, January 9, 1865. Varied the usual round of ward & kitchen work by writing home. Mary and I have precious seasons of prayer in our room, and her work is greatly blest. No one has any idea how hard it is for me to enter a ward full of sick men, but when duty calls & so much can be done for the Master I must not waver.
