Wednesday, February 15, 1865. This morning a most beautiful sunrise. Some one from a gun boat came on board looking much like J.S.McCay. Mrs R- one of the most pleasant traveling companions I ever knew Arrived at V- soon after dark. Kindly recd' at the C.C. Home Trip down delightful. Here flowers are blooming and everything looking springlike. Mr V the finest looking delegate I have known
