Tuesday, March l4, l865. A fine day on the steamer though it rained all day. Had good books & magazines to read, & better still Miss Johnsons company. Arrived at Cairo late. Waked up Mrs Grant & had a nice talk with her. After midnight got off on the train and had a tiresome ride. Slept some sitting up.
