Thursday, March16, 1865. Settled my business affairs with the Com' this morning. It seemed strange to have over a hundred dollars of my own at one time. Mr Simmons kindly saw me safe on the Jennie Deans. To my surprise found Col. Clen had married Virgie Brooks and they were going home on the Steamer. So I had good company when I least thought it. A very pleasant eve' with them.
