Wednesday, April 12, 1865. Really on our way to Washington. Left Louisville at 2. P.M. Spent part of the time on the train reading & part standing at back door looking at the beautiful country through which we passed. Train ran off the track and did not get into Indianapolis till near midnight and found ourselves very tired & sleepy. Took a room and after prayers retired for the night. At the Madison House.
