Monday, April 24, 1865. Left Washington today with Misses Murphy Cooley, Cuningham & Manda. Trip down the Potomac very pleasant. Passed Mt Vernon with many sad thought. Evening sat on the guards & sang while we glided pleasantly along Miss Dix was on board but said little to us. Before retiring knelt in our State Room had a precious season of prayer. Felt a trust that was very blessed.
